Solaris-PAC develops and markets a static heat pump (www.solaris-pac.com). This device has the added environmental advantage of being very quiet compared to conventional heat pumps equipped with blowers.
On the first prototypes, structural low frequency noise had nevertheless been found. By using techniques of modal analysis, ODS and other vibro-acoustic measurements, MoDyVA identified the problem and propose solutions to remove these noises.
These changes are now implemented on the Solaris-PAC heat pump.
This project was realized for the company PMDS, in partnership with the University of Mons and the company NETs. A monitoring system was deployed in the quarries to follow 24/7 a chainsaw cutting machine. On-site cutting performances could be analyzed and new tools have been developped by the team. This work has lead to a new patented diamond tools configuration.
Edith Dekyndt, a belgian artist, realized in 2009 an exhibition called "The love waves".
MoDyVA has assisted Edith to set up two artworks :
- A stationnary waves has been created in a 45m long room. The visitor could perceive spacial variation of noise level while walking in the room
- Explosion of a cristal glass with a loudspeaker emitting at the resonance frequency of the glass.
Exhibition waas organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Grand-Hornu and ended on January 24th
Fairwind develops mid-range wind turbines. In order to limit vibration levels, MoDyVA realize the balancing of those turbines. We also performed modal analyses to beter understand their structural behavior and avoid resonances issues.
Our measurement systems allow us to visualize in 3D the vibrations of a machine or a structure (ODS technique). We can also perform modal analysis. Such analyzes have been performed for the company Dynal helicopters in order to understand and reduce vibrations. Other studies have been performed on production machines in the automotive sector, blue stone cutting tools, ...
We realize different kind of acoustic measurements : noise tests of machines, acoustic mapping, absorption measurement in our reverberating room, isolation measurement, ultrasonic noise measurement, ... We can also realize indoor acoustic simulations using or ray-tracing software (EASE).
MoDyVA uses a seismic monitoring system. With this equipment, we can evaluate structural risk or discomfort in buildings followind the norm DIN 4150. In the past we could successfully identify the origin of ground vibrations on production sites. Our knowledge is based on the research work done by the University of Mons.
MoDyVA is developped in partnership with the University of Mons. Sharing and spreading knowledge is part of our mission. We give lessons to the health and safety advisors (level 1). We can also organize trainings in companies about acoustics and vibrations. In all our reports and communications, we take care of a correct understanding by the customer of technical concepts used or developped.
Our customers are companies who care for the health of their workers. Combining dosimetry techniques, acoustic mapping and by analyzing the work organization, we calculate the contributions of the different tasks to the noise exposure. Thanks to this "worker-oriented" technique, we give recommandation to our customer to efficiently reduce the exposure by focusing on the more contributive issues, while limiting the costs by defining the right priorities.
MoDyVA measures vibrations according to ISO 2631 or ISO 5349. All measurements have been collected in a vibration database. We also regularly analyze entire carriers of workers in the case of conflicts with the Fund for occupational diseases.
